Alia Bland is a co-founder of Voices for Freedom (VFF) and Reality Check Radio (RCR), two of New Zealand’s most influential grassroots organisations to emerge during the COVID-19 years. With a network of over 100,000 engaged supporters, including 45,000+ active members in local community groups, Alia has played a key role, alongside her co-founders and team, in mobilising Kiwis to resist authoritarian policies and rebuild resilient, connected communities. VFF has distributed over 8 million educational flyers, hosted the Southern Hemisphere’s largest employment rights webinar, supported major legal action challenging mandates and the mRNA vaccine rollout to children, and provided a platform for leading international experts in medicine and science to offer alternative perspectives during the government’s official narrative blitz. Their advocacy has influenced elections, pushed for a second Covid Inquiry, and helped thousands navigate censorship, job loss, and discrimination. With a background in education, Alia is known for her ability to communicate complex issues clearly and for fostering cooperation, courage, and community in challenging times.
